David O’Mahony has been with AusPayNet, the industry association and self-regulatory body for the Australian payments industry, for over 5 years. David has over 30 years’ international experience, incorporating roles at Bank of America, Standard Chartered and Macquarie Group. David is a graduate of the University of Technology, Sydney. At AusPayNet, David is a member of the Economic Crime Forum which brings together a broad range of participants, including law enforcement and intelligence agencies, regulators, representatives from AusPayNet’s membership (currently over 160 members) and other key stakeholders in the banking and payments ecosystem to share intelligence on emerging threats and collaborate on joint responses or tactical initiatives to prevent all types of economic crime David has, in collaboration with AusPayNet’s diverse membership base and other industry bodies, been leading the response to the Financial Stability Board’s (FSB) delivery of the FSB’s roadmap for cross-border payments, including the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on its update to Recommendation 16, and is also engaged with the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI) on various global initiatives.
